Applying AI/ML to regressions, bug hunting and coverage

Conference: DVCLUB Bristol | Using AI/ML in Design Verification
Speaker:

Steve Hobbs (Cadence )

Speaker Title: Applying AI/ML to regressions, bug hunting and coverage
Abstract:

This presentation will show how you can use AI/machine learning to build models from regressions run in Xcelium with Verisium SimAI. These models can generate new regressions with specific targets, such as soak testing for more efficient testing of the entire design or specific areas and regression efficiency. We will introduce cousin bug hunting, which uses information from difficult-to-hit failures to expose cousin bugs. We will also talk about how you can use ML to close coverage gaps using Verisium SimAI which is the ultimate breakthrough in accelerating verification closure. By using machine learning techniques, Verisium SimAI offers the possibility of an order-of-magnitude productivity boost - a game-changer for the industry.

Key Points:

  • Regressions
  • coverage closure
  • bug hunting
Speaker Biography:

Steve Hobbs is a verification architect at Cadence where he has worked for 20 years, across emulation, formal, Specman, UVM-SV, and ML/AI, with a particular interest in verification efficiency and methodology development. Steve has also worked as a verification engineer at ST Microelectronics and an embedded systems designer at DERA (now Qinetiq). Steve has a B.Eng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Brunel University.
