Adiabatic Digital System Design

Overview

The use of Adiabatic Complementary Pass-transistor Logic (ACPL) as an alternative to NMOS technology used in Flexible Integrated Circuits (FlexICs) is investigated. Arithmetic and signal processing circuits are built and verified against NMOS equivalents to determine the scalability of ACPL. Significant energy savings are demonstrated, with an ACPL
Manchester Carry Chain (MCC) adder consuming less than 1% of its NMOS counterpart.
Minimal increases in area cost are observed, as resistors in NMOS technology contribute significantly to overall area. These results contribute to ongoing research and provide a strong foundation for future work.
