Dual In-line Package (DIP) sockets where DIP devices are installed. DIPs are
through-hole components, which means they install in holes extending into the
surface of the PCB. They can be soldered in place or installed in sockets. Many
types of DIP packages exist: Ceramic DIP (CDIP), Plastic DIP (PDIP), and Shrink
DIP (SDIP) packages.
